EPB bedding in procedure question.

I will be servicing my D3 myselves, and while doing my first service I cleaned the EPB and changed the rear break pads.
All went fine accept that I had some problems to get the left side drum off.
I came to the point off do the bedding in procedure for the EPB.
I did the thing as mentioned here before 3 times brake peddle in and hold 4 times etc.

Then you have to stop the D3 from about 30 km/hr to 0 10 times using the EPB.
The question: what is the difference by doing it in Bedding in mode than doing it as an emergency brake with the epb handle? You do the same but you don't set the car up for it. I didn't feel or heared any difference in both ways.
I used the procedure that I found here somewhere.

the epb shoes in the drums will only operate at 2miles or 5kms and under(or there abouts) when in normal mode, above those speeds it uses the ABS system to brake not the EPB shoes which is why it needs to be told to use them hence the procedure.

Did you try it? As I don't feel any difference. I am sure that also in the bedding procedure it uses the ABS too. And after 2 tries the shine part were the pads work was hotter than the inner part were the epb works.

Do you get an message that the car is in EPB bedding in mode?

Yes, and the epb warning lamp should flash.

That explains it. My D3 didn't take it then.

I'll try it again tommorrow and see if and what I did wrong.

I drove about 850 km last night without any problems AFAIK. Whistle

Yes I had the engine running. It is a easy procedure but my car doesn't take it. I even printed it out to make sure I did it right but I don't get the message and when I pull the epb it uses the normal brakes first and not the epb. Big Cry Big Cry

Does it really needs bedding in after cleaning it without changing any parts? As it works fine and I don't hear any noices.

I finally managed it. I probably was to quick. You really need to take the 10 seconds for the diffrent parts.
Push the brake in for a second etc not just some quick taps on the break and pulls on the lever.

You really feel that the normal brakes are not used and the D3 is stopped only at the EPB and slowly.
