Engine stall pulling another car uphill

Today I was off-roading. My friend's jeep broke and it would only give power to the front wheels. So we used a pull strap (ARB) and I helped him up a muddy hill....

On the nastiest part, he got stuck, and I needed so spin the tires to get moving. 3 times the engine stalled on me! All the panel lights lit up.... Every time I noticed a voltage drop at the time of the stall, if it was caused by the engine turning off or something else I don't know.

We had to back up a little, and find another line up the hill (my friend's car was getting stuck on a log). Now since we were using a pull strap (it stretches), the car did not get 'hit' by the pull...

It was scary to have the engine cut off like that... My battery is 2 years old, I use a 2ndary battery for accessories, so I would not expect it to be a problem...

Any ideas?
