I think the D4 system could be improved a little. Having experienced an American hire car that reported all the fluid levels to the driver as part of the start-up it would be great if the D4 recorded the oil level at the ideal point after shut-down and automatically displayed it to the driver next time around. I would add battery SoC to the list too.
I guess those of us who do not mind getting out hands dirty are not typical of the average driver. There are many drivers out there who hardly ever (or perhaps never) check their oil. Being able to do it from the driver's seat may encourage a few more but it should be automatic, even if it means being spoon-fed.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948
