Can any one tell me what this tapping noise is or could be comming from rear of engine nearside passenger side bank thought maybe the cam chain but reading and seems that’s at the front on this side
Or is it normal just u can hear it a lot inside the car worse when cold
Oil pressure is 21 psi idle
Appreciate any help

Just it does quieten down a hell of a lot after a mile or two when engine has warmed up

I think it’s literally just normal D3 noise, they’re all noisy from 07 onwards.
I listen out for them sometimes if I see one pull up at the supermarket or whatever and I’m always thinking how noisy they sound.
My partner doesn’t think ours is noisy but I think it sounds like a taxi from the 80s, I think some people are just more tuned into the noise they make than others.
If it was a serious noise it would get worse very quickly.

Eu3 is 04-06 eu4 is 07-09.
Eu4 supposedly has altered injectors, fuel pumps and fuel pressures etc. Which apparently caused a noisier engine.

Are these engines noisier when cold then cause that was my main concern as I till the temp guage is half way it’s noisier once warm it quiet down a hell of. A lot

Ha, yeah completely backwards, more economical, more tax.
I will have a listen to mine when cold tomorrow, once warm mine is only noise under part throttle around 2000rpm, after that it settles down.
What fuel do you use?

Only use shell but started from today putting v power in to see if it does any good just when started from cold and pull away heavy it’s really taps for a mile
Or two but starts getting better after less than that and once at the right temp it’s quite quiet just wasn’t sure if it was surpose to be like it when cold and it also misfires when started from cold for maybe 5 seconds with smoke ( unburnt fuel) but someone said that’s prob glow plugs

I use BP ultimate which made mine sound quite smooth. Yeah when cold mine runs like crap for a few seconds and smokes.
I’ll listen out for mine when cold tomorrow.
