|
Might sound a stupid question but been looking around and seen many engines fitted in d3 2005 seems hard to know whats what to get the correct part numbers.
Is this engine also fitted to the range rover mk4 because when I Google the pictures all I get is range rover results .thank for any info

How do we supposed to help you without knowing what model & fuel type you have other than D3?
If you put your VIN number here, I am sure we can give you the correct engine code. Best regards

I assume you are talking about the engine fitted to your D3 which is a 2.7TDV6. In the LR lineup only fitted to the D3, early RRS and early D4s (not all markets). Not fitted to any RR.
The 2.7 engine was also fitted to Jags, Citreons (Peuguot?) and the Australian Ford Territory.
Petrol engines included the 4.0 V6 and the V8.

This is what you get with "general" questions... with the presumption that everybody "will know" what you have...
What Garry posts, can be true in general, but on the level of ordering correct parts (your main question i presume) , gives you next to nothing.... as many parts will not fit (or functioning)... on whatever engine you have..
with the VIN we can at least determine if it is diesel or petrol in the first place and then, the Euro spec it has.. 3 or 4 or.. then you have something to start with... Best regards

Trucks - it might pay you to get the build sheet for you car - Google "JLR TOPIx", create an account (which is free), enter your VIN and you can get the configuration of the car as built.

As far as I know one can’t get a build sheet for a D3 from topix. You can see the general info like engine and emissions but not the list of kit the vehicle left the factory with.

You may well be correct - it's many years since I got the build sheet for my D3.
Presumably a friendly JLR dealer can access & provide the owner a copy of the build sheet?

thought you might like to know you can still register with "JLR TOPIx" and as you say it's free but are limited to very limited information, there is now various fees for various bits of information and l could not find any configuration details.
Thanks for the heads up though

You can email JLR for a build sheet. Have to provide image of vin and log book. Will try and find the email address I used. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

as pointed out my car is listed in my avitar as a 2.7 diesel and when I was a nipper I only had to lift the lid to tell whether it's a diesel or petrol and a whole host of information would come to mind about the engine ,gearbox and a host of other information that was in the head I did not or was expected to run off and find a VIN number at a drop of a hat to tell someone what engine was sitting in their car
any skilled or even good mechanic would look at the engine and know what he's was looking at straight away.
I unfortunately in my old age have got diminishing memory problems and find it hard to retain or retrieve information in my head ,so I use this forum for assistance in the best way I can, and as you put it ,i do not presume everyone knows what I am talking about .
so I wish you not to reply in such an arrogant manner actually I prefer you not to reply at all.

start with telling some more details in your opening post (ings), instead of letting us to browse your profile first... waiting in a armchair for details to come..
easy details like diesel or petrol... is not ot difficult to mention i presume.
but your VIN can give a clue also...
fill in this url and you know something more..
