Just happened this afternoon, came out of a righthand bend and put my foot down and it accelerated fine then all at once lost power and displayed 'Engine Fault' and special programs not available. After 10 seconds power came back as normal and all seemed ok. The special programs were not available though, though the suspension would go up and down. Got home, turned off and back on again, special programs work again and no fault shown in display.
Any ideas? Its still under extended warranty and just wanted an idea what it could be before i take it to dealer.
I have a friend with a code reader and said he will call round later to see if he can read the codes, and if so I will post back on here if he can read them.

If it's under warranty then I'd just take it to the dealer and get them to read the codes. I've read of a few people on here that have had similar things and just the old switch off switch on again seems to sort it out. D3 HSE MY05 Auto

Did you catch the brake pedal at the same time as the accelerator? if so, there's a 'left foot braking' software update for 05 & early 06MY's

HI, I don't think so, because I put my foot on the accelerator and it set off, it only loss power after about 5 seconds then stayed like that for about 10 seconds then corrected itself. Got some codes from the landy, dont know what these mean but here they are
P140D
P2290
Any ideas?

P140D00
Exhaust gas recirculation
(EGR) control circuit
range/performance (lefthand
bank)
Intake air temperature
(IAT) sensor fault
Manifold absolute
pressure (MAP) sensor
fault
Mass air flow (MAF)
sensor fault
EGR valve stuck closed,
blocked
EGR valve circuit high
resistance
EGR valve circuit short
circuit to ground
EGR valve circuit short
circuit to power
EGR valve failure
P229000
Barometric sensor failure
Using a datalogger function, check the
ambient pressure and the manifold
absolute pressures in both banks with
the engine off. If the ambient pressure
is significantly different to the manifold
pressures suspect the ECM
What are you using to read the DTC's
I suspect one will be historic and the other intermittent but without a system capable of determining which is which, you'll have to guess

Don't know what it was, it was just a little box that connected to a socket under the steering wheel, doesn't look owt like what you have, well the one you used to reset my service indicator! I think I will have to take it in to the dealer because it still as extended warranty on it, but at least I know a little more now. So does it look like I have an EGR fault, the one that everyone goes on about? I know you don't know for sure what the problem is, but if the EGR's were to be blanked off/removed sort out the problem? Or have I to wait and see what the dealer says and see if it happens again, because its driving ok at the mo! Cheers Iain

Read the DTC description
Quote:Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control circuit range/performance
Many things affect the control circuit, the items listed are the ones the DTC points to, it's not necassarily the EGRV at fault, especially with the second DTC pointing to the barometric pressure sensor - have you lifted the engine cover to check for rodent damage to the wiring loom?

blanking the EGRV's (especially on the output side) won't prevent reoccurence if it is an EGR problem, the dealer should be able to diagnose from the full DTC data - unless they take the 'traditional' route of a read, clear & re-read then say they can't replicate the fault - come back if it happens again

Just a thought - can your friends DTC reader only access the ECM or does it read all modules? there may be other pointers stored elswhere

Don't think it gave a description just the code. He's been and gone. It was a small box, I asked how much it was and he said it was about £300. I will just have alook to see if theres any damage under the cover. I don't think so but you never know!!!

Might be worth asking him what it was, i'm sure there'll be some interest on here at that price - might start selling them myself!
