Hi Phil,
PM notifications are definitely being sent to you, I just sent you a test one and it appeared in the outgoing mail queue on the server and promptly left the queue.
This means two things: your settings are correct (the site is trying to send you notifications) and there's not a problem sending that notification (the e-mail gets sent ok).
Unfortunately this points to spam filters at your end, although I know you say they're clear

Hi Martin
I have a primary and secondary SMTP address. My primary address is the address that the site uses. On investigation it seems that mail sent to my primary address is routed through a different filter to those sent to my secondary address. I don't have access at present to this other filter so can't check the logs.
What I don't understand is why notifications of new posts aren't being blocked whereas it looks as if notifications of pms are
I have now changed the email address in my site profile to my secondary SMTP address to see if this fixes the problem. Can you or someone else send me a couple of pms to test?
Thanks

Hi Martin
I finally decided to check out why Im not receiving email notification for posts on threads Im watching and stumbled across this post. It seems that my settings are all correct and my mailbox is on Google mail (nothing in my spam folder either)
Note, I haven't ever received mail notifications from disco3.co.uk - are you able to assist?
Thanks!
BTW. I love Disco3.co.uk 2005 Discovery 3 2.7 TDV6 HSE (Auto)

I've sent a couple of emails and pms over the last few days, the emails haven't been answered and the pms are still in my out box. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm sure there's a newer thread about this, but stuffed if I can find it.
Some Gmail accounts are fickle and just simply don't get DISCO3 notifications through 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

It's been fine previously. It's just been the last week or so. Perhaps the people I've emailed and sent pms to haven't read them.

SPF? EC2?
I noticed this on another forum for thread subscriptions. The other forum is on Amazon EC2 and there is sometimes a ~48 Hour Delay on SMTP server transfers.
It might be the same problem, part of it I think is that the SPF record for the domain is not setup so that mail is queued for scrubbing I guess.
Cheers,
Al
edit: Just checked now and I have loads of Disco3 mails in my spam, it is due to an incorrect SPF record on the disco 3 end. This is from the mail headers.
Received-SPF:
softfail (google.com: domain of transitioning site@disco3.co.uk does not designate
2a02:af8:1:400::3739 as permitted sender) client-ip=2a02:af8:1:400::3739;
Authentication-Results: mx.google.com;
spf=softfail (google.com: domain of transitioning site@disco3.co.uk does not designate
a02:af8:1:400::3739 as permitted sender) smtp.mail=site@disco3.co.uk
Can try to help out if I can but probably some setting in PhpBB or your provider should be notified.
Just to elaborate on the incorrect use of SMTP - it stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and is a machine to machine way of sending email from source to destination. Though it handles emails it's not an address itself.

Actually disco3 is blacklisted with Barracuda among a few others:
