Electric Side Steps - Any experiences? |
|
I'm still getting it in the neck from SWMBO about her ongoing struggle to access the D4 without sidesteps. She's used to steps from the D3 but I'm reluctant to put them on the D4 because of the issue around them collecting crud & therefore accelerating any rust problems.
She was taken by the electric steps on a D5 we had for a week of so on loan from the dealership. I see there are retrofit versions of these available.
Britpart do a version HERE
A company call Pegasus4x4 also seem to produce them in Bristol
Does anyone have any experience or recommendations? Would electric steps reduce the chases of crud build up & therefore limit premature rusting?

not a cheap option but you could look at rock sliders with inserts ... prospeed certainly do them. there may be others.

I doubt they would help its still a thing to catch mud etc.. i guess when you operate them some mud might fall off though?
can you not just use access mode?

Yes I saw the ones discussed on here the other day. Looked nice but I was concerned that sliders with inserts wouldn't create enough of a step for swmbo

It was Nick H with the Yulong White with the Prospeed fitted
https://www.disco4.com/forum/weekend-190378.html
I'll have to look into them although the electric ones are around the same price, I know they won't be anywhere as robust as the Prospeed but the chances of SWMBO allowing the Ice Maiden off road to the point i might need sliders is pretty remote. She moans it cost enough just sitting on the drive!
