EGR issue

D4 went back in for some minor work, damage to bonnet after wrong wiper arm fitted to drivers side from the factory!!!!!!!!! LR customer service are on the case for this. Whilst it was in there I again complained about fuel economey and black smoke on start up after car has been standing for 6 hours plus. Dealer Guy Salmon Aylesford Thumbs Up Thumbs Up spent a lot of time checking car and have found a fault with the NS EGR/actuator it appears to be chatering continually and not remaining stable. Got car back now and am awaiting a rely from dealer who in turn is waiting LR tech guys to get back to them. This may or may not have anything to do with poor fuel economey will have to wait and see. Will report back when I get more info but at least they have found somthing.

I have followed this site now since the summer when I ordered my D4 and found it very useful.

Seeing your EGR problem, I found myself registering!

It will be three weeks tomorrow my car has been at the dealer having both EGR valves changed. They are very different from D3 ones, so I am told. I have asked them to keep the car until it the orange light no longer comes on.

I hope that this is something to do with the mpg over 7k between 19 and 22mpg. You don't spend 50k on a car and get any sympathy about poor mpg, but it was supposed to be better than D3 and I only got 25ish from that.

Anyway time will tell. Although I am pretty fed up about it, Barretts in Ashford have said and done all the rights things, so I have no complaint with them at all. They say also that this is their only EGR problem. I will be glad to get out of the 2009 RRS HSE they have given me. Notwithstanding my D4 problems, it is a far better car than RRS - imho anyway!

Good luck with yours.

Oh, also had clouds of smoke, especially after a long run (600 miles). Happened 4 times. Very back, and lots of it.
