EGR Blanking Plates

Laughing Laughing Can anybody point me into the direction of a Supplier/Manufactuer/spare couple of plates. I know I can use the 2p trick, but want to blank them permanently. I dont really want to go along the route of the removal kit as I want my D3 to look standard under the bonnet.

Having done the blanking on my old TD5, it responded well, so hopefully looking to do this on my D3 as I suspect one is failing. I am getting soot under a booting, sluggish from 0-2000RPM, them whoosh.

So I may as well do this after all.

What do you all recommend for the bolts and gaskets Thumbs Up

Embarassed should be in D3

I for one would'nt Blank mine, its designed into the D3, like the TD5's was, just replace them. If they are in short supply it wont take long to get some, and I would'nt think a Dealership would permanently blank them IMHO.

Is it black smoke on hard acceleration you are getting? cos I'm suffering from that now Big Cry

And the illustrations with the ebay plates are good as he nicked them out of my Gallery Rolling Eyes

Mac - you changed your mind since January then?

I think BAS only supplies an EGR kit not just the blanks

Ridgeback Moor was the last person I think who supplied members here with blank plates

Laughing Laughing Laughing I know I know, not a fan of blanking, but its cheaper than replacing or the hassle of claiming, although I could possibly change my mind again.

Its just something I can do, outside the house as a short term fix that will be cheap till I know whats I will do with the thing, hence why not wanting the FULL removal kit.

Getting soot under accelleration yep, can only be the EGR's cos it does it whether the BAS tune is on or off.

Surely not Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

I'm all sold out now, so the ebay ones are probably your best bet. I don't think there's enough demand to have another 100 made up.

Shocked ok, reluctantly I will buy the ebay fodder, but would rather keep it forum.

Are they easy RBM to do, mine is a MY06, so not getting warning lights, just lack of oomph.

Have Pm'd the legend Nick for New bolts n gaskets already, as its better to have the parts before attempting Thumbs Up

Easy (ish) - just follow the guidance available on here (someone did a pdf doc but I can't remember who). Getting to the bolts is probably the hardest part, but if you've got a half decent socket set then should be no probs Thumbs Up Allow 2-3 hours and you should be fine - don't forget to take the butterfly out as well though.

Just looked through Alderboy's PDF, that was fitting a BAS removal kit, phewwwww alot of reading there. How come it takes 2-3 hours though. 4 bolts, put the blanks between pipe and valve, or am I missing something.

Not doing the butterfly at the moment, too intensive

Took me about 40 minutes to do the Blanks and that was taking it steady for fear of dropping the gasket/bolts Thumbs Up

2-3 hours is realistic including removal of the butterfly valve, which you really should do at the same time as blanking. The need to remove the butterfly valve has been widely discussed on here before, and is pretty easy especially if you just remove the link and lock it open with a small screw.
