Hi all,
Want to do something about EGRs my options are:
“Removal” kit taking off pipe from EGR to inlet body a more sturdy solution but an eagle eyed MOT inspector will see they have been played with even with the engine cover on.
Or
Fit shims between EGR and pipes to keep stock look but risks blow by from thin metal.
Which have you done ?
As always thanks 2005 D3 SE Auto, zermatt silver

Blank off the pipes at junctions down side of engine, but put pipe back on, remove the butterfly and reconnect pipes. As it’s a D3 you should not have errors on dash but will have error codes logged that can be ignored. 2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Just recently done mine (2006 MY). I bought 4 gaskets and 2 shims from AF and blanked them where the pipe connects to the EGR and left the pipes in-situ. I did mine because the left side (passenger) EGR had failed. Get the codes read to find out if you've got EGR issues - different codes for each bank.

If by diagnostic screen you mean the sat nav screen then I'm pretty sure the answer is no. You'll need a decent OBD code reader. GAP IID tool is preferred option on the forum.

Although it is not illegal to remove the EGR from your vehicle, it is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet. Removal of the EGR will almost invariably contravene these requirements.
The potential penalties for failing to comply with Regulation 61a are fines of up to £1,000 for a car or £2,500 for a light goods vehicle. 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
