In off-road mode, when the rear E-diff is operating, it becomes a PERMANENTLY locked diff Once in - stays in
When selecting normal road condition on the terrain response knob and drive straight for some 50 meters or so, the E-diff will disconnect with a significantly CLUNK
Also, the operation of rear E-diff will no longer indicate on the 4x4 display, when operating!?!
(The operation of the center diff still indicate correctly on the display, on-red/off-white).
Whats going on - any suggestions, please
Cheers,
Mats

Need to get the fault codes read - if the display is not showing the diff locking when it should be then hopefully there is something logged that will give a clue.
I've got the e-diff and it shouldn't "clunk" but whether it's a mechanical fault inside the diff or a wiring fault or problem with the actuator I have no idea.
Worth getting underneath and checking for signs of oil leaks too.

Sounds like an engage/disengage problem. Could electrical, electronic or a mechanical cause. Start with easiest first; as sarumlight said read the fault codes to see if it a comms error first. If not check the wiring, if not you will have to get the diff looked at. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

Thanks for your input, guys.
Will have to get the fault codes read and start from there. I also think it is related to the electrical motor not being able to disconnect the lock-up "fork"/function. Normally it is only locked up for seconds at a time when needed but now, it is like an ARB diff, 100% locked up - permanently.
Thanks,
Mats

I might be wrong but I didn't think it was ever meant to completely lock up - it's more of a variable limited slip diff with a multi-plate clutch in oil.
Something that might be worth checking: The first time Steve Norman serviced by D3 he found the e-diff wires were very close to the drive-shaft and he fixed them out of the way so they wouldn't rub through. That might be something to check for.
