I have a T-Max dual battery system that I currently just use for backup starting (i.e. there are no other connections to the second battery than the standard). I have acquired a caravan and it seems to me that I should be able to use the power in the second battery to run the caravan electrics when parked up and not connected to the mains. (there is the standard caravan battery in place of course). How can I connect my second LR battery to the caravan so it uses this, but doesn't drain my primary LR battery?

I have a Traxide dual battery set-up in the D4 that has an isolator to disconnect the second battery from the cranking battery when the voltage drops below a set value. We use the second battery for running a fridge in the back of the D4 and that circuit also has an isolator that will disconnect the fridge to save the second battery. It may not be exactly what you need but give you an idea

If it's a split charging system on your car, then the second battery is isolated when the ignition is off so you won't flatten the original battery, you can power what you like with the second battery..
