Dual Battery
Sorry for the very naive question but what is it for?
I mean what can you connect to it and what can you use it for?
Would it be possible to use it also as a back up in case the main one fails (ie the car does not start)?
How difficult is to connect it?

Auxillary Systems can (if routed) supply permanent Live power in the D3 anywhere thats desired and fully protects the cranking battrey. I have a fridge, and some medical equipment that can run 24/7 and my D3 will start everyday without fault.
If ever I need the jump start (not yet), the Auxillary battrey can always supply the power. So for the initial outlay, its worth its weight in gold for me.

aux sockets, 6x LF170's auxiliary lights, LED lights in boot area, CB, torch on permanent charge, power inverter...(and DVD players for the kids when traveling so they don't switch off when you re-fuel... )The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

either with an of-the-shelf split charge system (Traxide is popular as there is a kit specific for the D3) or with a wiring diagram, a load of cable and a few relays etc....
I took the easy route and went for Traxide The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...

A wiring kit from the Aux battrey can determine where the power goes. I just installed extra sockets seperate to the D3's Aux Sockets that die when the key is removed

Hi Macleod 313,
First of all, nice job on installing that dual battery system.
I have some questions about that Traxide system, how does it work?
Are both batteries connected all the time?
How will it react when we start using our winch?
Is there a supplier in the UK, or better yet, in the Netherlands that you know of?
Looking forward to your replies<
Thanx, Ruud

Hi Ruud,
The Traxide controller is made by user "Drivesafe" on this site.
His business name in Australia is Traxide Tronics:
