Driving Lights
Hi All. Anyone out there who has installed driving lights onto their D4, was told by my dealer that it couldn't be done due to all the new electronics in the D4. If it can be done, whats the best way to approach it.
Any ideas.

Lightforce wiring loom. Just plug and play. That's what I done on my D3 but think it should just be the same on a D4. A few have done it so someone will be along soon to confirm

Can't see why not. Mine are the rubbish LR ones but I bypassed the junk loom they came with any way and installed heavier cable. I took the feed off the high beam circuit to trigger a relay which then switchs the 12V directly from the battery.
Minimal addtional current draw on the existing high beam circuit to upset the black box jellybean machines. 8)
I'd love to fit some good HID spotties onto the LR mounts but not sure it can be done and still retain the aethetics of the vehicle. Maybe I will simply fit a HID globe in lieu of the halogen one and see how that performs. I upgraded the original 55w globe to 100w but the light output even with upgraded globes and looms is not that great.
More lumens grunt can't overcome crap reflector optics.

Hey Boof, wondered where you got too, go back and tell your dealer he's a dropkick, I have Lightforce HIDs on my D4, the popular lights now is FYRLYT, as with Lightforce, made in Australia, strong, great light output, but Halogen only, don't let that put you off though, I have a friend with these lights on his Patrol, they are brighter than my HIDs
Oh and it's the same process for the D4 as any other car.

Humble apologies for coming in late here, but I want to wire up some driving lights I have fitted. I have everything in place, e.g., relay, switch etc but my issue is where to take the high beam signal.
The reason I ask is when I looked at the wiring diagram I just about fell over. It looked like the HB was part of the CAN, which is a to splice into. (Actually nigh impossible). This didn't make sense when I looked at the actual wiring.
I'm guessing you can just pick up from one of the high beam wires, but I have no idea which one. Any help and/or pics would be greatly appreciated.
Just on a side note, the driving lights I have are some PIAA 520's. Old technology but wow do they light up a road. I've used them on a few previous vehicles and love them. Can't see the need to go to LED just yet with these beasts.2006 TDV6 D3. Completely stock except for the fluffy dice hanging from the mirrors.(Joking, no dice)
