I believe the 72hr test can be lateral flow, it’s just the government advise PCR, but it’s not mandatory

Thanks everyone, just found the return section. So it seems no test to go out but a test 72 hours before return is required.
Travel from France to the UK
As the UK is subject to the French government’s amber list requirements, if you are not fully vaccinated and wish to travel from France to the UK you must complete a Certificate to leave Metropolitan France, which specifies exemptions for travel. If you are fully vaccinated, you are not required to present an essential reason for travel. No UK citizen or resident should be prevented from leaving France to travel to the UK. However, return to France will be subject to the restrictions outlined above.
If you intend to travel to England, Scotland, or Wales, including UK nationals returning home from travel abroad, you must provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 test result, taken up to 3 days before departure. If you do not comply (and you do not have a valid exemption) your airline or carrier may refuse you boarding and/or you may be fined on arrival. You can access tests in France via the French government’s website. Travellers will then be subject to quarantine measures in place in the UK upon entry.Disco 4

As always, some excellent help in this site.
So, it appears no outbound test if double vaccinated, just a lateral flow to return to UK, and PCR on day 2.
Doesn’t seem too difficult to sort out. I will book out tunnel tomorrow, and start getting all our documents printed, and apps downloaded.

The challenge is the carriers perception. They do the checking. I had a colleague get stopped and prevented boarding because the gate staff believed it needed to be a PCR test.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

Has anyone loaded the "pass sanitaire" - which is needed to go into bars and restaurants in France. I have loaded my vaccination certificates into the app TousAntiCovid, and it says they are acceptable, but that's it. I would have to show both jab certificates to the barman...There is no mention of pass sanitaire. Is that what I should expect?d4 HSE

You can get the return test at pharmacies in France for about €30.
Enter the Department into this website to find a list of participating pharmacies https://www.sante.fr/cf/centres-depistage-covid.html
It's a lateral flow test so they will have the result within half an hour.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand
Booked my day 2 test for when I return and amazingly all the £20 tests are sold out!! Just got to book my Day 3 test before I return. Have contacted a Pharmacy in the place we are staying, just waiting for them to acknowledge the email.
One issue I thought of is what do you do if you are travelling and staying at a different place each day? Do you have to hang around a place to make sure you get your Day 3 results?2013 RR Vogue SE SDV8

We are planning to take the tests with us, so that we can just do the tests and then send the results off to get our cert to enter the UK.
I need to find somewhere to get the Day 2 PCR test booked for when we return, and the tests to take with us.
Booked the tunnel last night. £286 return.
I also setup the tousanticovid app last night and loaded in our NHS vaccines, which shows it’s all operational. Took a couple of minutes to do mine and wife’s.

I assume they will want to see the QR code in the app, under “Health Pass”
There are 2 options. One it says is to enter venues and bars, and the other is for border crossings!

I use the "Covid Certificate" app, it is Swiss, is in the apple store, and it stores the QR code of your certificate safely and only on the phone, not in the cloud, so it allows you to teach it quickly and comfortably. Logically, you need to always accompany some type of personal identification, such as your passport or identity document. Do not confuse with "Covid certificate check" app, which only serves to read QR codes.
I hope it helps youlost in translation!

Got a response from the Pharmacy in Dinan and the cost for the return to the UK tests are 25 Euros each. Booked appointments for myself and the wife the day before we return to the UK. They said we should have the results in 20 mins.2013 RR Vogue SE SDV8

Watching with interest…
We normally do France twice a year (Skiing and summer hols). Didn’t Ski this year, but snuck in before COvid last year. Really really missed it this Summer. Hoping to go in the New Year and we always drive.
Interested to see how the French are with you and if there’s any anti-Brit stuff going on…
Hope it goes smoothly 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Well I hope so, but we will see! So far, the additional admin has taken me 5 mins.
I just need to book a couple of tests, so probably another 15 mins there.
I think it’s going to be a case of getting used to travel restrictions going forward, so if you want to travel again in the future, it’s just another thing we will have to do!
