Driveshaft removal tips
Well, the MOT results were not that bad. Headlight adjustment and front left cv gaiter leaking. I've got everything off and am now trying to remove the driveshaft from the front diff. I know it's just a pop in C clip but it will not budge. Anyone got some trick or knack to doing it. Tried pry bars, tried tieing a strap and pulling. I am now aching. I want to reuse the driveshaft so don't want to just yank on the other end

I swapped a rear diff recently, releasing inner joints can be awkward. I used a small block of wood resting on the diff casing, leaving enough gap against the CV case to use a tyre lever. This gives you great leverage, and both sides then came out easily.Chris

Still didn't manage to get the dam driveshaft out of the gearbox. Ended up cutting the boots and dismantled the joints while leaving the inboard cv case in the gearbox. I suddenly remember why I hate doing cv joints. Such a messy job. All back together now.2005 Discovery 3 HSE 2.7TDV6 Auto
