DRIVERS SEAT, Manual Adjustment Lever

Big Cry Has anyone experienced a problem with the drivers seat lowering over a short period of time.

Second time into Stratstone (Durham) for this problem. First they said they replaced the seat base. But still lowers. Took it in this morning and was advised that it is a 'design fault'. The explanation is the the lever is to high up and the driver catches his (or her) leg on the lever when entering or exiting the vehicle. Advised to highten seat to limit place a weight on it over night and then see if it can be adjusted upwards the next day.

The vehicle is under 3 years old, still in warranty but just seem to be gettin fobbed off! Twisted Evil

Any information, advice or guidance on this matter most appreciated. Bow down

Lots of people have had problems. Here's one thread I found that links to others :

If you look at my post in the thread that James has linked to in his post above - I've compressed the springs under seat using a few 1p coins, and it's done the trick. Not too difficult to get the springs out when the seat's raised fully - they just unclip from the base.

I do the same as SN. But very annoying all the same.. front the lowest point id usually pump it up twice using the lever for my driving height. mite try myself as thread above suggests ..

Endemic design fault with F**d manual heigh adjuster seats.
Pragmatic solution is to stick a few coins/washers in the in the spring sleeve.
Real solution would be for F**d to use springs of the correct length.

One thing, put the same number of washers in each of the two spring tubes.....
Reminds me, I've got to stick another couple of washers in mine as its better with one in each, so another couple each side should cure it.

I have a simple fix (copied someone else from the forum, can't remember who) and that is to cut a piece of wood to fit between the lever and seat moulding, covered in plastic tape for a neater finish and held in position with a small self tapper.

Prevents the lever from moving downwards. Works perfectly and took about 5 mins Thumbs Up
