Drivers door connector

Hi

May I pick ur brains plse

Noticed that the drivers window will only work if I open my drivers door , so I assuming it’s the door connector that’s located by the drivers footwell

As it’s tight to gain access if I can undo the door strap to allow the door to open wider as I’m thinking it should then give me more access to try and undo the footwell connector , check it, spray with some electrical spray and then try to relatch it , or does it just push together with the other one behind the footwell panel plse

Wondered if there’s a trick getting it back in as see there like a rubber seal around the connector

Also got a new drivers door window master switch but door panel needs to come off as the passenger window works fine at its own switch but not from the drivers master switch

Maybe it’s that footwell connector that’s causing all the issue

Sorry for the daft question but as always very grateful

Many thks

Hi Gary, I did a rear door loom recently, I assume it's similar to the front. The connector releases from the door pillar, not the door. It leaves the wire loom and connector with the door. Just pull back the rubber gaiter and it should be fairly obvious.
Could be a dry connector pin, or a broken wire.

Many thks as always

Sounds like I should remove the footwell panel to ensure the inside connector hasn’t been pushed in or come away from the outer one

Know ages ago I struggled getting the rubber outside connector trim back into the pillar , just wondered if it would help by taking the door strap off and put something behind the door to prevent it swinging back into the wing

Thks again as very grateful

If its not as simple as the connector, then it could be a broken wire between the car and door. This is an obvious fail point, due to the number of times the door gets opened. Surprised its only the drivers window.

It has been known on the D3 for the thick black? earth wire to have a tiny break. This is often noticed by the side indicator on the outside of the door doing really weird things (stuck on). Even a video on youtube somewhere

Thk u so much Pete

Alas the passenger door wont work from the drivers side but does on the passenger door so indeed maybe there’s a broken wire

Will check that out and grateful for the heads up in what to look for and ref the indicator light

Thks again and will update once I get round to checking the loom, wires etc
