Waiting for recovery. t'was a cold night driving down the b6012 near Chatsworth towing a bowser all of a sudden a shudder and a grown, felt.like the land rover was being held back and gearbox.fault came.up. Engine kept.running so manging to limp to a safe place to stop. now no faults on dashvoard but an almight clunking and grinding from underneath. And when i put it into park the land rover rolls. any ideas. was thinking transfer box has let go.?

It's good for high mileage users like yourself that LR offer an unlimited mileage three year warranty.

A similar thing happened to me in my D3. I also feared the worst but it was the front nearside drive shaft. Hopefully that's all yours is. All covered by warranty. Thumbs Up

Eek!
A common mistake made when trying to come up with a totally foolproof design is to completely underestimate the innate ingenuity of fools.

Messy isn't it!

The OSF final drive shaft went on mine the day after I bought it and er 15 mins after the breakdown cover kicked in. Thought my autobox had failed too the noise was dreadful.

So when the NSF CV joint went a few months later I managed to get home with a mix of rock crawl and low mode attracting lots of concerned looks from those I passed. No more damage done though.

Yes very messy.
Glad to see my neighbour hood watch busybody is on the ball. because the recovery truck dropped it 1/2 way across my neighbours drive (who I cleared it with on route home) and more than 6 '' away from the kerb. he has phoned the local plod saying there is an abanded car blocking a bus route. buses can still get round though. Have also left a note in the windscreen last night saying it will be moved this morning Rolling Eyes

64,000 on 1 year is heavy heavy going. The odd thing will break now and again. My friend with a Jap pick up has recently had a new turbo and clutch after 30,000 in one year. Hope you get it resolved quickly.
