Dr Tranny in 8 speed box
Apart from the questionable product name, is there any technical reason not to use Dr tranny in the 8 speed gearbox? Going for the single flush on the weekend so easy to drop it in at the same time.MY12 D4 HSE Marmaris Teal

I think I'm experiencing some TC slip hence why I'm doing the flush and thinking of using the Dr Tranny. The product worked great in the Zf 6 speed just not noticed any posts of folks using it in the 8 speed which I why I'm wondering if there is a reason it shouldn't be used.....MY12 D4 HSE Marmaris Teal

65k miles
It may not be TC slip but I figured at 65k The oil could do with changing anyway
I'm getting fluctuation (dropping) of the revs on about a 1Hz cycle when cruising. Has happened about 3 times in the last 6 months. All fine under acceleration. If I change down a few gears using the paddles the fluctuation remains but the amplitude increasesMY12 D4 HSE Marmaris Teal

I may be wrong...
The D3 transmission 6 speed
The D4's transmission 8..... I believe same make of gearbox.
LR opted to make this a non routine service item....the ATF lasts the life of ?
Well in most of our cases as long as the fluid stays OK. Which could be below or above 100k miles.
The longer it's run in a contaminated state the more untoward things happen....control valves sticking, parts not getting lubricated, not running as designed to run.
It's quite possible if the fluid had been changed out at 40k, 80k etc no or less faults woukd occur.
The double flush done before any warning signs present themselves - well worth doing (I wish mine had been done..)
Adding Dr Tranny as a preventative - well worth doing....for less than a tenner.
Doing a flush when there are issues ? ....to me maybe we'll worth a shot....with DrTranny may just resurrect a sick transmission....but it can't put worn metal back or fix delicate internal parts that are compromised.
Especially the TC.
My transmission died quite quickly - noise one day - next day up the creek. 92k mikes
New TC. Gearbox rebuild - with DrTranny.
LR got it hopelessly wrong....in my opinion
I can't believe having life of vehicle items in a service schedule is a selling feature....I certainly wouldn't look there if I were looking at features when buying (who looks at service intervals ?)
Waaaaay back in the past I've messed about with other auto boxes - swapping ATF etc but issues only cropped up at far bigger milages > 200k...all Borg-Warner or Aisin-Warner. I even took an Aisin one in bits & put it back successfully.
My XK has less than 30k miles - this year ATF change.
a11Geo......give it a shot you've little to lose.BREXIT - done properly.

Save the Dipstick Flagbearer-keep it simple, less likely to fail campaign-agenda items:Starting Handles, Acetylene Lamps.

D3 HSE-perfectly formed, passenger friendly...has real DIPSTICK
Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Pretty much agree with everything written above - I did preventative mega-flushes on my D3 for the reasons highlighted. Guess the difference with the 8 speed is that the tech has only just become available to deal with the thermostat to make mega flush possible and instructions on how to double flush have only fairly recently been published in Robbie's fantastic guide. So there hasn't been too many options to get early oil changes in.MY12 D4 HSE Marmaris Teal
