DPF Full on 2016 Disco Landmark |
|
Hey folks, looking for some advice here...
My Disco came up with the (I now know) dreaded "DPF Full" alert last week. First it was the yellow triangle -- that probably showed up mid-week. Then Sunday it was the red triangle, accompanied by reduced power.
Prior to this, for a few weeks, it also had the check engine light lit.
I had a LR Assistance technician out to look at it yesterday. He reported a MAF fault, which he said was keeping the DPF from regenerating, leading to the DPF Full alert. He also thought that because of the MAF fault, this could be a warrantable repair.
So my questions:
* I've seen recommended procedures for forcing a DPF regeneration, but it seems like in my case that won't work because of the MAF fault. Is that right? or is there a regen procedure I might be able to do myself?
* I know the DPF is specifically excluded from the LR Warranty. Would the fact that (possibly) the MAF fault led to the DPF issue make it likely the warranty would cover it, or is that ?
* Is there any reason to prefer a LR dealer for this work over an indy specialist? I have 2-3 good indies nearby, including Rovertune and Newbury 4x4. I spoke to Newbury and they have a DPF cleaning machine there, so could do the work.
Any & all advice welcome... 2016 Discovery 4 Landmark black

Maybe have a look at this video, sounds similar? Good luck. Craig.

Happy to report that in the end the DPF was not the issue. The MAF sensor fault was indeed keeping the DPF from regenerating, so once the MAF sensor was replaced, the DPF regenerated fine. 2016 Discovery 4 Landmark black
