Doors falling off?
Ok, so I posted on another forum I frequent about the impending purchase of the HSE.
One of the other guys I know well, lives in BHam area and runs a specialised crane company. He looks after a couple of local businesses that work alongside LR. Here is what he told me (it's lifted off the other site)
When they built the first run offs the active suspension did its own thing on vehicles left in the storage area which is in the flight path of BHX, apparently the airports radar was giving it instructions.
I also do a load of work for a local company that builds the door skins with robots, I have 2 contracts, 1 to maintain robotic crane system for dipping door skins in cleaner prior to shipping to L/R and 2nd for maintaining robots, big time problem in 2005 was when BMW flogged it to Ford, Disco doors were falling off !!!!!
Turns out hole punchings for hinges specified by BMW to Swindon Pressings was a knats cock over size, enough to bite in production but not enough to stand daily wear & tear.
L/R said in the end not worth a recall so get down there & hang yer off all the doors then try & lift em off the hinges!!!!!
Ok...scaremongering or were/are these issues valid... I am sure if a bloody door falls off the LR would sort it quickly.....

Doors falling off ...the only issue I'm aware of was the loose nut on the tailgate strut story. I think he's pulling your wire TBH 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

don't think any of the Discovery body panels were ever made in Swindon. It was this company below.
Quote:
The new contract follows a successful year which has also seen Stadco supply a number of pressed steel and aluminium body panels for Land Rover's highly acclaimed new Discovery 3. Stadco will supply a number of major aluminium skin panels for the Range Rover Sport direct to Land Rover's Solihull plant from its new state-of-the-art pressing facility at Castle Bromwich, the largest independent press facility in the UK.
Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it
