Door retainer - any idea on name/part number
Photo below of the retaining strut on the drivers side door. The coating has split and now making a horrible bang noise when opening the drivers door.
Any idea on part number or name?
Thanks
Mat

Yes you take it off from inner skin .
Door card off then window motor ,then window actuator 5bolts I think ..
Detach window from actuator push clips 2 of, ease window back up .mite need two people here .
One Holds window up ,one takes window actuator out .... undo the four bots that hold check strap .
Fit new one and re do procedure backwards finished.

Just done one of these, easy way I found was to take the speaker out, 4 screws and a little pull, then plenty room to remove and replace new one

Having just done the drivers door check strap on mine I thought I'd add a bit to this post:
1. Door card needs to come off but only one wiring connector, the one to the speaker, needs to be unclipped.
2. No need to remove door actuator cable or any window mechanism parts.
3. With door card unscrewed and unclipped - see the video on YouTube - support weight with a bit of rope over the door frame and tied to external handle.
4. Remove speaker. Plenty of room to now get at the offending part and replace.
Some images and notes:

The outside trim on this is harder to get off than the YouTube video shows. There are 2 clips top and 2 clips bottom

Support door card with rope over door to avoid straining any wires:

Remove this speaker connection:

Remove speaker for access to inner door. Speaker needs gentle seperation from door inner metal skin.

A small ratchet screwdriver such as this is handy for removing & refitting the two lower speaker screws.
