I haven't driven my car for 6 weeks and my drives side mechanism is playing up. Will try this method to see if it fixes it

My driver door stopped locking with the rest of the doors. Stripped it all down. This means trim off, speaker out, glass off, center panel moved, handle off, and then the lock mechanism comes out. (Less difficult than I thought it would be but fiddly and a lot of bits to remove to get to the lock mech. Haynes gives the procedure.)
On my 2008 vehicle the motors un-clip from the plastic housing. Quick test on a 12v supply showed that the larger motor was not working. Local dealer told me that these used to be available as a part but now only the whole mechanism is available (£92 inc VAT).
So... Opened the motor up and cleaned with brake/clutch cleaner and switch cleaner, polished the copper connector (commutator?) and cleaned the brushed (carefully as they are tiny / fragile). Dried it all with air line and scrapped clean the gaps in the connectors with a tiny screwdriver. Carefully rubbed the brushes with a cloth on the end of a screwdriver.
Put it all back together and tested and it worked!
Bit time consuming but then so is an hour's round trip to the dealer plus a £92 invoice!

If the latch has power and you can hear it trying to move then manipulate the lock from the inside whilst using the central locking unlock button. Typically the servo gets a bit weak and appreciates the additional help. If no power to the latch then clearly that will need fixing.Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

Have you tried opening it with the key from the outside? You would have to do in the event of a flat battery and no remote control unlocking. On my D3 the passenger / near side door has a key slot for this purpose. The manual shows you how to do it.
