But do they sell at that price?

I’ve had mine a month, quite a lot of the cars in my price bracket are still up for sale.
Some of them are polished up dogs going by the mot history… Laughing

Makes me glad I jumped at mine.
 In loving memory of FA54WSK.

Rest well old friend, your work is done.

Mine went as a PX (LR dealer) and I got what I thought was a reasonable price (£5,000 more than WBAC quoted). It was obviously moved on and for the brief period that it was for sale, was advertised at £26,500. Obviously I don’t know what it went for, but……….

If you're thinking of getting rid of your D4, make sure that you're doing the right thing.

That's opened a can of worms here. I have a March 2015 150,000 mile d4 HSE that I have owned from new that has never stranded me. (Prior to that had a 2010 HSE from new that I changed at 112,000 miles). I have kept up with all maintenance, and had to replace several parts (eg suspension arms, brake pipes, compressor, tailgate latch. and done one belt change and 2 gearbox oil changes).

After 14.5 years and 260,000 miles in d4's I was thinking of a change and as do several journeys to Alps would hope for more confidence in reliability.

But nothing really appeals as much as a d4. Everything is weaker in some form or another.
Defender= poor boot, tailgate and that rear tyre.
D5= too ugly, poor engine choice
RRS= boot too small
FFRR= too wide, too flash, depreciation and insurance
XC90 - I understand the fans' point of view but, for me, only when I'm in a coffin.

Currently toying with idea of FFRR - I'm 62 and might as well have one blow out car. Family all think I'm nuts. Would the fact that mine has done 150 K change the perspective from the Op's original post in favour of changing?

I agree with every word. Maybe the D6 will have a better engine & decent split tailgate.

As someone who has been on this journey - the XC90 might surprise you....... Whistle

Also, don't forget the Mercedes GLS or the Grenadier and if they don't float your boat, keep the D4. Thumbs Up

I did a trip to Ivalo (Northern Finland) towing caravans using a pair of XC90’s (66-reg). We went the long way via Poland and up to Estonia, coming back through Sweden and Denmark. It was very comfortable and spacious, BUT both had lots of road noise (winter tyres?) and a four-pot engine which made itself known when working. Maybe one with air suspension might be better? Until we’re forced out of ICE cars I’d like to keep a smooth 6 (or 8!) cylinder engine.

I’m 62 also, so will keep an ICE car for as long as I can.

As for the Grenadier, having tested one earlier this year, I wouldn’t entertain one. The non-centring steering and crude manners are verging on being dangerous. Mention that or a Toyota Landcruiser, and all of a sudden the RRS seems like the dog’s danglies in comparison! 😂 The Merc GLS is nice but HUGE! It’s a pity the GLE has such a miserable face….. 😢
