Loads of Miles

In the last week Ive driven from
Lincoln to Deal, (had fish and Chips sat on the tailgate overlooking the Pier)
Deal Back to Lincoln via Broadstairs
Lincoln to Sheffield
back to Lincoln
Lincoln to Stoke then Birmingham
back to Lincoln
Lincoln to Birmingham
Back to Lincoln
Lincoln to Birmingham
Back to Lincoln
Lincoln to Birmingham
Back to Lincoln
Lincoln to Stoke then Stafford
back to Lincoln
All for work, with no other way to make the journeys. The D4 has performed brilliantly without issues even when stuck on the M6 for 2 hours in 3mph traffic
Still love these cars every time I drive them...

Thumbs Up
 Must stop buying shiny toys....

2011 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 XS Auto Galway GreenDiscovery 4

Finally got around to "blacking" out my Galway Green D4 XS and getting it ready for some proper adventures. First on the list is the NC500 at the end of the month.

Started by plasti-dipping all the silver bits (lettering, grille, handles and vents) black. Was surprised at how easy it was to apply and the results are amazing for the price!

Also added a Prospeed roof rack and ladder as well as some 18" Compo's with 265/65 Discoverer AT3 Sport 2's. I know a lot of people on here aren't a fan of white lettering Whistle but I think they look great!

Roof tent will be going on ahead of the NC500 trip and the final piece to the puzzle is getting the Prospeed tree sliders put on. Still waiting on them to be delivered after 5 months on order...

Changed front disks and pads.
Disks were Meyle Brake Disks 53-835210005/PD from Advanced Factors
Pads were EBC Green Stuff DP62123 from Bearmach.

First impressions are good although haven't got them really hot at high speed yet. Bound to be better than what I replaced as the pads were 7/8 worn and the disks were also quite worn. Luckily no grazed knuckles and all the bolts and nuts were not seized. Happy days!
 D1 300Tdi - gone
D2 Td5 ES (Alive remapped...mmm) - sadly gone
D4 2012 SDV6 XS - Stolen
D4 2014 SDV6 HSE - Shiny

Replaced the front wheel bearings and checked the trans fluid level. I also placed an order for Grabber AT3's on 4wheelonline because I got a sidewall puncture.

Fitted new (GKN) rear propshaft as the rubber bush around the centre bearing was totally mashed. Once off I found the UJ's were very notchy and there was a fair bit of slack in the shaft as a whole. New bolts and locking plates fitted.
The drive is massively improved particularly coming on and off the throttle. A very satisfying result for the effort.
Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Swapped out the cheap and nasty internal boot release I fitted so I could camp at The Peterborough show for the one I actually wanted, now looks OEM I think Smile

Got round to doing my steering wheel swap. Nice heated RRS steering wheel in now, and toasty hands.

that steering wheel looks really smart - my disco doesn't have the blue tooth phone buttons and heated steering wheel but is it just plug and play? - if so i would love to do this mod as my missus has it on her disco 5 and its a nice bonus when the mornings are cold lol

The heated wheel bit is fairly easy, needs a few other parts than the wheel but not difficult.

If the car doesn't already have Bluetooth I would assume that will be a bit more difficult?

There's a lot of information on this forum about heated wheel installs, its where I did all my research.

Worst day of the year for me, only 6 months till the best day of the year Mr. Green

We all normally use the services of a local lad with a tractor but I decided to pull on the big boy pants and try the Discovery, didn't even get the tyres wet, pulled the boat out no problem and now dry stored for the winter

Plus 1 with regards to the new steering wheel , think it really smartens up the look

Also done the same but alas mine isnt heated , didn’t realise the D4 steering wheel airbag is flat opposed to the D3 when it’s slightly raised

Got the rock sliders fitted

One of next projects on the list will be to fit the spot light wiring loom , as it’s a genuine Land Rover one i see I’ve got to connect inside the engines fuse box, as mines a base model , don’t think the connector is there in comparison to the HSE loom

Know when I opened it up last time when I retrofitted heated windscreen washer jets I don’t recall that connector but do have a complete HSE engine wiring loom and fuse box so can rob any connectors off that if so required , checked on that HSE fuse box and it’s there which is handy as can fit that to mine

Did see a really smart install of the spot light switch into the light switch panel itself instead of next to the instrument panel , but can’t remember who done it

Then need to repair and fit the front soft A bar I got , along with the D4 front end mod still unsure if to fit a pair of spots or a curved Lightbar

Also still need to get round fitting a Bluetooth system, did fit an Aux socket in the centre of the dashboard

Few more bits I want to get done next year , ie rear lower wishbones, plus might as well replace the original rear struts at the same time

Apologises am waffling as per usual Whistle , really like the excellent mods that everyone is doing Thumbs Up

Stay safe everyone

D4 steering wheel and D4 air bag

Aux socket fitted

The Spare HSE fuse box I’ve got , great as it’s got that connector ( circled ) that I need

My engines fuse box, need to add the spotlight wiring loom connector
