The Doctors Australian Camping Trailer
Here she is..
Collected all the way from Southampton..
A few monifications required but between us i'm sure we can sort it.
I put her up the other day and the boggest of all storms here in Yorkshire tested her to the max..
Bone dry right through it all!! Can wait to hook her up and set off!

Waeco fridge arrived today!!
So im thinking im going to take the tuff box and spare wheel off the drawbar.
Make a Aluminium box for the front of the trailer to house the fridge and also make it big enough to house a battery to run it.
I will then mount the spare wheel in front of that.
This still leaves the drawbar very long... Should i leave it like this or reduce it?

We had all 3 of our trailer drawbars extended as we tend to take our media trailers into fields,or across fields and we/I felt they are ore stable extended, and least likely to clatter the back of the tow vehicle when the angles get accute. Also helps with reversing I find personally.

Ive got my Aluminium box manufactured and placed on the trailer.. Pictures to follow..
I have a lesuire battery fully charged up and had my waeco fridge plugged in and set at 5 degrees.
The batter lasted 48 hours until flat. I could do with this lasting longer if i,m traveling around france..
SO what do you suggest i do?
Can you get solar battery top ups? If so what make aqnd model?
Get larger batteries?
Get 2 batteries?
I,m new to this and also a bit thick when it comes to electrical stuff and usage etc.
I just wondered what others do?

as you will have towing electrics you could always set it up to charge the battery whilst towing and a solar panel would help prolong the battery but will never fully put all the engel uses back in but would help when on site.Tintenter

Battery charging
if you use the correct tow electrics system the battery will charge from the car whilst driving, use a big enough solor panel and it will keep the battery up even with the fridge running.
i use a 80watt panel and it keeps my battery fully charged and runs two 47ltr fridges at the same time, without the need for any other charging.CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"

Cheers Guys,
What battery do you use i,m looking at putting two inside the box where the fridge is going to sit.
Perhaps with some kind of change over switch? And then perhaps adding the mobile solar panal.
I had a look under my disco but only have the wiring to the one trailer socket at the rear do some have two sets of wiring ?

you need a deep cycle battery, not a standard car battery, the deep cycle sometimes called (leisure battery's)are more expensive but are the right way to do it,
you can buy the additional "S" socket for you car and the wiring is inside the left had access panel in the boot.
don't bother with a changeover switch between batteries there is no point.CLUB "Ah Shor it'll be grand"

Looks great Doc, probably expensive! Imagine all of the extra stuff that you put on the drawbar the extra length wouldn't bother me, greater visibility of trailer from the D3 too?
Goo luck with it, looks fun Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
