I know this has been covered a little. I've read most of the threads but couldnt find the answer I'm looking for. I'm going to do a DIY mega flush on the disco and have watched a few videos showing the actual "Mega Flush" machine working. My question is, if I buy a cheap 12v 2lt/min fluid transfer pump with the correct size hose. can I fit this to the intake on the transmission radiator and put the other end of it in the 20lt barrel of new fluid? obviously I'll also connect a hose to the outlet pipe where the old fluid will come out and run it into an empty barrel. Will powering the pump and running the engine effectively do the same as the mega flush machine?
Comments please?

See here for a tried and tested DIY method.

If you can't be bothered with a pressure bottle the fluid can be refilled thru the level plug with a large syringe. Then start the engine and refill some more, refit plug and turn engine off.
If you have lots of oil you can always repeat in a years time.
Remember this box does not use the normal red oil. Needs to be suitable for the ZF6HP26
I think the Jag boys maybe starting to use this

6 litres is normally enough.
or smith and alan.

I took the plunge and bought that oil from Westway - I also had a look at Smith & Allen.
I bought 10 litres and did a double train / refill. Covered just over 1000 miles and things seem fine - changes etc are smooth.
I tend to change all the oils every year on the basis that's it's easy preventative maintenance.
I've ready to be told it's only recycled cat urine and that the box is about to explode underneath me tearing my testicles off but, hey ho, I've used their oils before and ultimately my motor, my choice...... I see no ships........

Hi SpiderBaby, I've been looking at the Westway Lubricants fluid as its el-cheapo and states its to M1375.4 standard.
I'm interested; did your gearbox ever open a black hole and swallow the universe?

Well I'm 12,000 miles in on this Westway oil and so far the universe hasn't swallowed me.
Ultimately it's down to personal choice.
One thinig I don't buy into though is the premis of leaving oil changes for long periods ('sealed for life'). I see no ships........

But is not a mega flush and is just the same as draining the fluid through the sump plug as the gearbox oil pump can only pick up what is in the sump before it stops evacuating the fluid in the filo method.

They are about the same to be honest. Filo is better if anything.
The mega flush still has the full quantity of fluid in the sump to pump through the system and mix old and new fluid. The fluid exchange companies admit this.
At least with the filo method you pump out as much as you possibly can from the sump.
And if you so wish you can then undo the sump plug to drain the rest.
A mega flush isn't magic. It's a nice looking machine, where the operator doesn't need to get under the car or get his hands very dirty.

Won’t you need to have the wheels off the ground to run through all the gears

No you are not driving it just making sure all the oil galleries are full of oil so the level check is correct, std procedure on auto gearboxes small and large.
