DIY FULL SERVICE & LOUD THUD ON DECELERATION NOISE FIXED
Decided to complete a full service (apart from the gearbox) at home an on my drive - purchased all oils and filters from advanced factors and used genuine LR filters. 5% member discount
D4 is 2010 with 161K miles.
I Bought a 6L vacuum pump for the engine oil from amazon for £25 which worked perfectly and didnt take long at all. Once i was happy the hand pump wasn't getting any more oil out i took of the sump plug to double make sure and gave it a good clean.
Engine Oil & Filter,
Fuel & Air Filters,
Transfer Case Oil,
Front and Rear Diff Oils.
No problems carrying out these works and would recommend for all to have a go. proof of purchase for service kit and pictures support the service history, for me anyway.
For about 4 weeks my disco has had a horrible thud noise on deceleration and i was worried this could be gearbox/torque convertor related with hefty bills.
When i was draining my front diff oil i noticed the front diff bracket/support bolts (3off) were really loose and could be moved by hand. Realising this could be "flexing/moving" when driving. Happy days once tightened this horrible thud noise has gone an no worries now about gearbox bills.
Pictures will follow from my mobile, i know - no pictures then it didn't happen.
