I get 360ish up to 440ish when "filling tank. Could I really not be "filling" and this is a fuel pump nozzle sensor sensitivity issue? Seems a big delta...

I think it all depends on how you have been driving prior to filling up - my 'range' values have spanned 340 - 620 miles so far this year! Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE
Previously:
TD5 Defender 110 CSW (230k miles)
300TDi Disco 1 (289k)
4 RR Classics (300-350k each, 2 manual, 2 auto)
110 V8 CSW (220k)

Fair point. I assumed there was a reset when you filled tank but I guess it needs to Base figures on something so most likely average mpg for last journey.

Mine is around 400 always have been since new dealer wasn't bovered old was always between 500/600 obviously needs recalibration about 15/20% difference.

Managed 22 miles when tank range said zero......
Wouldn't recommend it though

D4 is a smaller usable capacity than D3, that sounds about right 400 ish to a tank, usually a few more for me Joined the BMWX5 45e group
