It looks a lot tidier than the Disco Sport interior and IMO looks pretty good. Nothing to put me off so far.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I still love my Discovery, and don't think I'd be in the market for the new one (even if I could afford to change at the moment, which I can't) ...but there are a few things that the Golf gets right that makes me appreciate that there are quite a few elements of my car where the game has "moved on"
The infotainment system in the Golf has motion sensors,so all the controls appear as your hand approaches the touchscreen, and disappear when you're finished...very simple, hugely effective, and keeps the screen clear of unwanted clutter when it's not required.
Then the keyless entry..the lightest touch of the door handle is all that's needed to lock/unlock the car... It almost feels like a fingerprint system it's so good, and makes the D4 feel a bit "clunky"
Land Rover (like every manufacturer) dismantles rival cars to study their technology and systems....I will forgive them a lot,if they get the functionality right
Still love the interior of my Discovery, and don't like that as much, even if it is just a snapshot..."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

When we were at Gaydon for the site's Design Peeps visit there indeed was a Golf being delivered to get stripped down.

My BIL used to work for Daewoo. They used to hire cars, take them apart and put them back together - until the hire car companies why they had cars for 3 months and they did no mileage DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

When we went round Gaydon, they were taking apart an X3 and one of the big Mercedes saloons, but it was a bit sparse....the manager said that they were clearing space as they were about to do something they'd never done before.....getting in 4 cars from the same Group, that shared the same floorpan, and dismantling them all at the same time.....namely a Skoda,a Porsche,a VW and a SEAT....
You can guarantee that JLR will have dissected offerings from all its major rivals, and I'm sure the new car will be excellent.....whether it satisfies the expectations of previous Discovery owners or not,we will have to wait and see..."Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

I hope that's a base model because there doesn't seem much to play with there!

Everything will be done through the Incontrol Touch system. It was like that on the DS, pretty annoying pressing 3 menus to do the function of one button.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

With an interior like that, perhaps the new one will be cheaper!
As has been said, it is very Golf like. My wife has one of those and whilst the fit and finish is good and there are no rattles (even though it's a convertible), when you look closely the plastics are hard and very cheap looking, it is also a miserable place to be unless the roof is down.Andy

The Terrain Response only has four settings just like Evoque and DS/FL2. It's either a borrowed centre console or a different model altogether. RRS2 and FFRR have 5/6 Terrain Response settings and it's unlikely that D5 will be less capable.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

I was thinking that it could be earlier.
That could be the GS with the equivalent of that small basic screen it came with? The HSE might come with a large touch screen like TESLA to replace the climate controls. This could then offer some of the higher tech features and relate more to the vision concept.

I would take a stab in the dark that that one is a 2.0 diesel with single speed transfer box, which would delete the rock crawl mode perhaps and without adaptive dynamics.
Or it could just be preproduction switch gear23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
