Discovery 4 vs Prado Kakadu |
|
People, I need guidance with a new purchase.
I'm weighing up Prado Kakadu ($96k) and D4 ($129k) as optioned equivilently.
Can anybody tell me about reliability of the new D4 as I have had oodles of problems and re-garaging of my 2007 D3 TDV6 HSE such as 2 (front / rear diffs, rear axles, wheel bearings all round, new rear suspension air bags, new Hi ICE radio, 2 rear seat bases (no not a fat family) 2 LHS front control arm, 1 RHS front control arm, Park brake failure / replacement, turbo hoses, catalytic converter, mutlitple engine warning lights / reports etc.
mut ... there must be something else I can't think of.
I just want a 4WD with comfort and reliability what I've had hasn't got me running into the nearest landy showroom.
To anybody who takes time to comment please accept my thanks in advance 1 beer is too many, 100 is not enough.

Thanks mate, I need to convince myself that the absolute unreliable bus I bought in 2007 won;t be repeated in 2011. I'll watch the vid ... do some sums and make a decision. Cheers JK 1 beer is too many, 100 is not enough.

Just imagine yourself meeting a nice lady and asking her "Wanna ride in my Kakadu?"

OK ... OK ... I've decided to stay ... especially with that Kak a du du du push my prado down the street Eurovision song!
It's going to be dearer, but the family are saying no to Prado ... yes to D4.
HSE, 3.0TDV6, premium leather pack, sunroof, HiICE, (no bling options) rear air, roof rails.
I'm starting to save right now.
thanks for the help 1 beer is too many, 100 is not enough.

You made the right choice.

Jezza hi
I am wondering how your decision worked out for you. Did you go with the Discovery4? Has it been the right decision?
I am also thinking of buying one.
This is my first post on the site.
cheers

Hooray for big Tata's.
I think reliability has been proven a lot better already with this model. Reading the forum has shown none of the prior issues like the d3,d2 problems.
I waited a year before I bought as was really concerned about this issue and am now loving being a d4 owner.
Also at the end of the day answer this question?
Does the d4 driver look out and wonder what it would be like to drive a Prado ....I doubt it
Does a Prado driver look out out a wonder what it is like to drive a d4 ...probably yes
