Discovery 4 tdv6 engine stopped
I bought 2011 Discovery 4 HSE few months back and I love the car until turbo failure. Repair shop fixed turbos but now TDV6 engine has come to its end and complete stopped running and unable to rotate anymore. The repair shop told me that engine needs to be replaced.
Where have you found your engines and should I try to find newer engine model from the junk yard? Unfortunately I have already spend high amount with turbo replacement and I try to find innovative way to save some money in engine replacement. Any good tips are highly appreciated!

Unfortunately no cheap options, probably more so in Finland. I’m not sure what it would be like in Finland but in U.K. I’d have thought far, far more people with engine failure chasing very few crashed cars where the engine is useable. Reconditioned engines are a complete gamble, often a bad one, and a “new” engine from LR is stupid money, often more than the car is worth.
Hopefully I’m wrong, it has been known, but doubt it.

Thank you for your response DSL, even though not exactly the kind of response I would hope to see at this state of mind Still trying to be positive to find an affordable running engine...

Sorry, didn’t want to rain on your hopes and I feel your pain. Had an engine pack up on me on my D3 last year a long way from home (NW Norway), it was not a happy outcome.

Eurojag is a name that comes up a lot (in a good way) when talking about getting second hand engines.

ISTR the one that’s for sale is a 2.7 rather than a 3.0. There is a 3.0 in Eurojag but it’s £6,000!!

I might be lucky because there is a crashed 60000km driven Disco 4 in Estonia. Thumbs up!

That could be a result, and just across the water.

There are less than 500 (didn’t verify with Trafi, this is from the top of my head) Discovery 4s registered in Finland. The chance of having one of those totaled and written off but engine in salvageable condition is rather low. Ergo sourcing a used but working might be a big problem.
I notice you’re from Lempäälä but you could try asking one of the indies here in Helsinki whether they can source. So either Autorep (Mauri) or Karaasi (Antti).

His D4 is worth somewhere between 30 (D4 HSE MY11 210000 km) and 55 kEUR (D4 HSE MY12 45000 km) with a working engine............

I knew I should have hired Rudolf and his crew and dragged Dark Bluie to Finland.

Thank you Kajtzu! My Disco might not be as expensive, but I love it. Where are you located? Maybe we can have Finnish brother club
For DSL please remember we have hungry taxation office, which will shoot high import tax to high CO2 cars....
