Hello everyone.
I will have to depart the country for a few months with work and apart from the normal don't leave the parking break on anything else i should consider?
I have thought about jacking it up and leaving it on stands, disconnecting the battery etc.
It will be SORN for the duration too.
Any hints and tips greatly received.
Connect the battery to a CETEK or similar "maintenance" charger.
Over-inflate the tyres, rather than have the vehicle on stands.
Put rodent traps & poison around and about.
Brim the fuel tank, to reduce condensation.
Arrange for someone to start the vehicle every 2-4 weeks, and drive it either a few yards, or better still 30+ miles on a dry sunny day.
I accept that some will think that I'' obsessive though!

It's difficult to know what to do for the best, everybody will have different ideas and opinions.
If you do decide to put it up on stands, although I wouldn't, make sure they support the wishbones not the chassis.
The bolts through the suspension rubber bushes are tightened with the suspension at normal ride height, so if you support the chassis and the suspension hangs down the bushes will be under a rotational strain the whole time and could tear.
Similarly I wouldn't leave the car for long periods dropped down into access height for the same reason.
I would try to store the car in a covered area with plenty of shade and protection from rain, but also good airflow.
I fully agree with Nigel about a battery charger/monitor, and also that it would be great if somebody could drive it occasionally.
NasherHeaven doesn't want me, and hell is afraid I'll take over.

I left mine on the driveway while I was away for 9 weeks. No special measures. Started on the button after sitting idle for all that time.
The only thing I would do differently next time is not to use the EPB but rely on chocks and the gearbox P.D1 300Tdi - gone

Great advice many thanks for taking time to write.
Brimming the tank is something I would probably have overlooked, but if it is a diesel this is great advise. The condensation itself is less of a problem compared to the diesel bug that can form due to the condensation.
A friend had issues with his diesel car (not a Disco) for years, various garages making different fixes, until eventually someone found the diesel bug. This required the entire fuel system to be cleaned out.
