I can definitely recommend fitting the manual release from LandRover Passion. Fitted mine a few months back, as we have cages in the back of the Disco. Actuator failed last night. It would have been hack saws and hammers to cut the cages out to get at the rear lower tailgate from the inside to break open the trim plate.
Instead, manual release, new actuator and all done in an hour without any swearing.
The actuators WILL FAIL eventually. Better to be prepared for that than have a massive bill or massive damage once the £70 part fails.😀

I might have just stumbled across a £4 equivalent of the LR Passion tailgate release lever:
The LRP is a kit, designed to give you a handle that is easy to fit to your car.
Supplied by a well-known company, with a legal warranty etc.
It's like stopping to look at gold and brass without delving in and saying they are the same thing
Discovery 3 "Tank", 2.7 TDV6 - Fully Land Rover Passion edition
LR4 "Enterprise", 5.0 V8 Petrol: now factory style but it will be like that for a long time
L322 "Centurion 3.6 TDV8", Land Rover Passion edition in progress
