Discovery 4 conversion to camper - cut body
Hi guys,
I have a WILD idea of converting my Disco 4 into a permanent overlanding camper. The plan is to take the body off and cut just behind the front door pillar.
I would like to keep the mounting points under the body and build the camper on top for easy mounting back to the frame.
Please excuse my bad photoshop job below but this is a representation of what I had in mind.

Has anyone thought of doing this/ similar?
For reference, the below chopped Defender 130 is what has inspired me to consider doing this.

Lots of the Australians do it with the 200 Series Land Cruiser.

I think if you were going to do it, it would be better to do a chassis extension and keep the rear seats.

Space will be at a premium and I've pondered having seats in the second row that rotate to be used inside the camper body.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

I'd go luton style over the front cab area I think, even if it's just storage space for lightweight items.
Love the idea though!
I'm dreaming of converting a T244 Daf to a camper and spending the winter skiing from it in Europe (well, 90 days of winter anyway) but it's an idea I've got about 20 years to develop yet 2014 D4 XS
