I fitted a new Halfords 019 AGM Battery at the end of May 2019, with the benefit of a 4 year guarantee - I see they now offer 5 years.
Now 4 years 7 months later it's really on its last legs, as it has been since I posted earlier in this thread. Cranking voltage at noon today was 7.22 volts as opposed to over 12 volts when new.
State of charge before cranking was 36%, but it managed to turn the engine over & start without too much of a problem.
To keep things running I have been charging the battery for c. 24 hours every 4 weeks or so. It looks as if I will have to bite the bullet & fit a new battery soon.
I noted what Dean said earlier about the Halfords motoring club. The new Halfords 019 AGM Battery fitted at the end of May 2019, cost £147.20 with the benefit of an RAC patrol's Halfords trade card.
I see the same battery is now £246.79 plus £27.00 for fitting - that an awful increase.
I wonder if anyone can give me the benefit of a Halfords trade card, or do I call out the RAC again when it fails to start one morning, and hopefully get the benefit of theirs?

ahhh, those prorated guarantees… only benefit the shop as you will be inclined to return for the mere .02 you will save.
If a battery can’t hold 12.3v overnight, I’m replacing it. You have more patience than I.2015 LR4 HSE Lux Aintree Green

Most of Tayna are sub £200, even well known brands are less that the Halfords offering with trade discount.A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
I would argue that, should you need it, a warranty claim at Halfrauds is easier than returning something to Tayna or another online business.
Generally, I'm not a Halfrauds fan but when it comes to batteries, they're pretty good..

my experience, every 4 - 5 years. On all my JLR vehicles. Coincidentally, right after the prorated warranty expires, lol.
Though I am aware many try to squeeze the last ounce of service from their battery by keeping it well beyond the practical and dependable service life by playing the “i need a daily maintainer” game.
The thing is, I don’t want to be away and have the surprise that she won’t start or accessories are not behaving properly. Mitigating the risk, really.
