Funnily enough we need to get a double cab pickup and the sensible option is get rid of the D3, buy a newish pickup and a saloon but not ready to part with the D3, might just dry store it for a bit.

Had a wobble this weekend.

I've now got a company car, and the D3 just doesn't get used apart from at weekends. A lovely, cheap P38 came up locally which very nearly hooked me in, even wrote the eBay ad for the D3.

However, I've seen sense. No doubt she'll punish me for the wobble at tomorrow's MOT Embarassed

Sounds familiar. I got a WBAC price for mine and drove it there yesterday morning. However they reduced the price from 2,450 to just over a grand so I drove it home again. I’m going to get its niggles fixed and then either sell it privately or just keep it. I think it was trying to tell me something!

Shuggy - I'm guessing yours is a leggy TDV6 and not a V8 ?

Hi Charlie

I’m afraid not - it’s a 2004 V8 SE. It is leggy though... 173,000 and sponsorship from OPEC! It looks pretty good for its age and the interior is immaculate.

I sold my 183,000 TDV6 on eBay in August 2008 for £4,100 and it was in much worse condition.

At that value I might as well stick it in a shed until they’re even rarer than they are now. It’s only a £1,000 gamble...

Well, she passed Bow down

Likewise, think I'll dry store it rather than get rid. She's on 140k but drives beautifully.

I’ve got to get an inspection for it in a month’s time latest.
I have to change engine oil + filters around that time, too, due to distance (10k km once again)
And might as well change oil on both differentials and the transfer box
And megaflush ATF

Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Knock on wood, etc.

Busy spring Thumbs Up

For those values you should just run it forever if the vehicle makes you smile. I realize a lot of people say get rid of it, don’t fix it since it’s value is lower than repair costs, etc. but if there isn’t anything wrong why should you. A newer vehicle isn’t necessarily better, either, and used is always a lottery even if one is careful.

Vehicle passed inspection with flying colors and it’s ok to drive it for another year. No notices or anything. This time I made sure that BOTH rear plate lights were working before handing the vehicle over. Laughing

The guy looking at it said the brake pipes might need some TLC a within a year or two but right now they’re still fine. Also commented on the general condition, not many cars look all the business after 15 years.

Thumbs Up

Rear calipers are AFAIK the same across all D3. Parts are SOB500042 and SOB500052

Thumbs Up

Front and rear calipers are same as TDV6, just the carriers and the discs are different.

Good spot, let us know how you get on with it!

Rescued mine from Copart - if I'd have spotted this one I'd have had a punt as a donor vehicle I think.
