Not leaking can have it's down side, especially when the car starts to float. Whistle

Yeah, floating and the split second loss of control as it goes into super extended mode. Never forget it Laughing

The biggest pain about a D3/4 used for off roading is cleaning the mud out of the radiator and intercooler.

Baz, you might want to look at the aftermarket off-road intercooler for the D3.

I use mine off road, it will go most places a Defender will go.
There are some places where it's size does it no favours compared to a D90, however it will climb rocks, wade streams, climb hills and generally do all the stuff a Defender does.

It however, can sit at 70mph in comfort, let you talk to people, has a heater that works, doesn't leak water in ( if you keep the sun roof chanels clean ) and has power to overtake things.

It does suffer from being a bit too heavy and can get caught out in mud if you make a mess of it.
For those rock crawl pictures, i took it easy, with a light steady throttle and it was laughable at how it walked up the slopes with TC only cutting in a couple of times.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

Loving the Pistonheads Smiley AJM - not much of a 4x4 Community on there though really.

Used to be on there all the time, since it started, but not so much these days.

...as has been said,a Discovery will keep you nice and flat over the rough stuff...but the size, compared to a Defender, can make getting to some of the lanes a bit tricky...

A.J.M......I prefer the one I got of you coming back down again Thumbs Up
Actually,on that particular climb,it neatly summed up the different ways a Discovery and Defender tackle the same terrain.....the Discovery crawls up,with the electronics doing a lot of the work, while the Defender relies on mechanical grip ...... Interesting to watch back-to-back .....

I would love to revisit that lane and pull tr fuses on my car to see what it would do with none of the aids it has.
See if it has mechanical grip as well.. Wink

The PH sticker has been on it for a while now.
Not the biggest 4x4 groups but the Landrover section is busy from time to time.
I use it for the Scotland site as there's some stuff on that I like, monthly curry meets etc.
The off roading is usually through here or SLROC.
