Discovery 3 Hse ,Just bought one
Going to pick up a disco 3 hse 05 on Thursday ,What should I be checking for ? It's on 135000 now with fsh and belts done at 90000.Heard about the handbrake but Never owned a disco3 ,Plenty of disco 1s Cheers
Well done......best of luck with your new vehicle....
You need to tell us the vehicle details....year, type etc
Others will add to this:
It's not just the fsh it's the repairs & replacements......
Belts OK
Gearbox oil flush or replacement (is yours manual or auto)
The oil pump housing
EGR valves....expect some work here....get them blanked if they aren't already
Brakes.....expect to rebuild every 25k miles.....V8 option worth doing
Hand brake.....has to be nurtured get sorted & get programmed to deploy automatically.....if used every time stay good
Suspension parts.....these aren't life if the vehicle - things need to be swapped out when cream-crackerec both front end & back end
Enjoy your vehicle !BREXIT - done properly.

Jag XK-but sadly no DIPSTICK...HUGE design fault
FL2 has DIPSTICK..."real comfort in rear seats"
VW Golf wondermobile (?)..has real DIPSTICK
Morris Minor..original DIPSTICK technology..and a real KEY.

Thanks for the reply,It's 2005 & TDV6 & dark grey. It'll be mainly for taking the wife and 7mth old baby boy out and about. The disco 1 let us down once or twice but easy to work on. These look a bit complicated
Your good with doing your own repairs
Or
You have or have to find a good independant that knows Disco 3/4'sBREXIT - done properly.

Also just picked up a D3 but a V8
Mine had the FBH light issue when the lights came on. Red lights on the dash (not good). Turns out its caused by the MY07 software upgrade (FBH indicator is now lights on indicator) and nothing to worry about. Just reflashed it with an IDD device.

Well done, enjoy the purchase!
Check the rear upper tailgate fixing points, they can get loose and its a pain to fix them if they come off!

Pretty good at doing my own repairs but the disco3 seems a bit complicated at the moment. 8)
D3 is defo diyable all the info you need is on here or google.
The trick is when you read a thread where someone has had an issues with whatever you check yours and fix/replace if needed.

An exclusive club indeed, welcome aboard. It's quite normal behaviour to wind down the windows and turn down the radio when pulling away from lights

Well still got the discovery and still loving it ,Since owning it it’s had a new compressor,Front lower arms and an alternator. Other than the usual pads, tyres and oil changes it’s been great.
