My SRS warning light came on again last week intermittently. Booked it in with the dealer for today. Received a phone call late afternoon to say that the problem logged in the computer was for the same crash sensor replaced last time and they suspect a wiring problem and will have to dismantle the whole dash Shocked

Hope the approved LR warranty covers it

An Update

Hi guys,

Finally got around to taking my D3 into the LR specialist, and the Faultmate read out was reporting a problem with the drivers pre-tensioner. So, the seat belt pre-tensioner has been replaced for a new one, and now the faultmate reported a problem in the drivers door.

Anyway, it seems that the drivers door has been removed at some point, and there is an issue with a door loom. This would explain why sometimes the warning light comes on, and sometimes it does not.

I am told that access to the loom from inside the door (i.e. removing the door card) is not easy at all, and that the door will have to be removed. Any thoughts?

I am not impressed with the service I have gotten from this independent LR specialist, so I will take it to my local reliable mechanic to see if he can fix.

So, it wasn't the clock spring, or the pre-tensioner - but a door loom problem.

Losing the will to live with it to be honest as I am told it's just an advisory on the MOT and not a fail.

Cheers, Mark.

Hi Does anyone know any common fault codes that the clock spring may put in to the system?

Thank you

Dan

I have the dreaded airbag SRS light on! The stealer says new rotary coupler is needed, but will cost around 500€ (parts and labour)!!! Evil or Very Mad

I know the service action deadline is expired and my Disco was not eligible anyway, but is it possible to buy the "rebuild kit" and do the repair for myself? Does LR sell that kit?

I had never seen so many problems with a bloody coupler, I would think it would be a part fit for life, not a fragile little piece that needs changing every thousand miles!

I would argue the point as this can cause the airbag to fail to deploy. It is a known faulty part and should have been replaced.
In some counties it is a re-call so check with your revevent government department. Idea

I have the dreaded red light on following some wiring done for the roof spots so I am guessing its related to the door loom etc. Will get the electrician back to check....

I have had the SRS light on, on my 05 Disco S and have fretted about all the things it could be looking on this list. Only the dealers have the equipment to analyse the fault, I tried two independNts and they couldn't do it on their machine. I booked it into the dealer who charged £51 for anlaysis. They did a "battery position hard reset" and the fault cleared which was a releif. Can't have disconnected the battery though because my clock and trip recorder were unaffected.

Last year the airbag light came on and the dealer said it was the 'spiral cassette' so they replaced it. Within a day I noticed the lights on the steering wheel switches (audio etc) were flashing on and off when driving at night. I booked it again and they fixed this but said the horn was a two tone and only one part was working so I had to have this done too. Next day the horn stopped working altogether and they said the other part of the horn had gone so this was also sorted out.
A few weeks ago I noticed the flashing on and off of the steering wheel lights again. Soon after the airbag light came on and the dealer (a new one) again mentioned the 'cassette' which was replaced (no charge to me as it was under 12 months since the last repair). I had the same re-run of events - lights, horn etc. The dealer thought it was all fixed but the airbag light is still coming on but only when I turn the wheel hard. The car is going in again on Friday. Anyone had this type of problem?

It connects the electrics in the steering wheel to the electrics in the car.

Drivers airbag resistance was above threshold. Rotary coupling wires were bent. Sorted now, thanks Rovertune.

England 2005 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Manual Tonga GreenDiscovery 3

Hey all,

Not long after I had my D3 I had the fire extinguisher fitted to the front of the passenger seat in the LR approved position (safety first remember) a short time later my D3 also developed this airbag light issue so I took it to a local LR specialist who pluged it in to his box of tricks which at first showed a "buss fault" which I am lead to believe is a big issue if you have a genuin buss fault, however in my case after further investigation we found that at some point during the fitting of the fire extinguisher the loom under the seat must of been caught or disconected and the connecter was only partially seated resulting in the pretensioner for that seat being intermittently disconnected as you moved the seat causing the srs control unit to believe there was a more substantial fault then there actually was.

As a result it was a very simple fix of unplugging the loom and reconnecting it correctly then clearing the fault, touch wood it has not come back since and it has been over twelve months now.

Just another one for you all to consider.

airbag light

I had a similar fault with my 06D3 HSE but it was under the drivers seat that I had a loose connection sorted now.
