Discontinued or replaced? Shell Helix Ultra AF-L 5w-30

Can't seem to find Shell Helix AF-L 5w-30 for sale. Opie doesn't appear to stock it anymore.

They have Shell Helix Ultra Professional AJ-L which specifically mentions being for JLR engines so I wonder if this has replaced the AF-L?

Plot Twist: when searching for oils using my 2010MY D4 (with DPF) registration on Opie, it doesn't show the AJ-L as being compatible even though it is a C1 oil.

Anyone out there using Shell Helix AJ-L?

Hi

Is this any help to u, ref the shell website ref the specification

https://www.shell.co.uk/motorist/engine-oi...5w-30.html

Is this what ur looking for

https://www.alexoil.co.uk/premium-motor-oi...30-5l.html

Some of the more knowledgeable members will be along , indeed looks like that oil has been superseded , assume an improved version

Must admit personally been using this , but mines a D3 without a DPF but know it’s down to personal choice

Hope that helps a little

If you’re sure your 2010 D4 has a DPF, then you need the low ash oil. Something like this

https://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-218490-shell-...e-oil.aspx

Or any of this spec WSS-M2C934-B

Yes definitely got a DPF - I "decoded" the VIN as soon as I got the car. Apparently, it was a no-cost option for the 2010 model year. Someone was obviously feeling slightly environmentally conscious when speccing it!

OK so looks like Shell Helix AJ-L is the new version of the oil we should be using. I have a couple of 1l bottles of AF-L on the shelf so wanted to stick with Shell. I understand there are plenty of other oils that meet the required spec.

Cheers chaps
