How to disconnect wiper sensor and will I get standard delay
Two part question.
1) Will my 2006 HSE V8 with the wiper rain sensor revert to a standard wiper delay if it is disconnected?
2)If so, how do I disconnect the rain sensor?
As it is now the rain sensor just doesn't work very well. On my Volvo I have the ability to use either standard delay wipers or the rain sensor. With the LR3 it looks like I am stuck with the sensor.

You should be able to just switch it upwards one more 'click' to give you std Intermittent wipers. Bodsys Brake Bible

Isn't that just altering the sensitivity of the Auto function, it's still auto and if no water detected won't wipe, unlike intermit wipers of old. Or have I grabbed the wrong end of the stick as usual??

Derek, if the ring is set like in the photo, second last position you get the Auto rain wipe and anything below should cancel the auto setting and give you a standard intermittent wipe, at various speeds, delay.

I also wanted to disconnect the auto-feature as it is the worst one in the world. Even Landrover said it will get on your nerves as it wipes a nearly dry windscreen. The only options mine has is 1) manual 2) off 3) Auto 4) constant slow and 5) constant fast.
According to the book, the adjuster sleeve should make the auto sensor more sensitive or less sensitive.
I have tried all settings and none work any differently. Landrover say they work fine but I couldn't be bothered arguing.
I also ended up flicking the manual wipers on when I need them...
Cheers..>!!!

That is exactly like mine. On the older Volvos disconnecting the rain sensor behind the rea view mirror would make the auto setting revert to a standard delay wiper.
In the photo "o" is off ? At least it is on mine
postion down is manual one wipe
position up is the screwy auto fuction
next position up is slow speed
top position is high speed setting

I cannont remember off hand and i can't try it just now, as the sun is splitting the skies just now but, I have a sneaky feeling that there is a way to do the wipers.
If memory serves, i think if you swith the wipers off, 0 position and then turn the ring to the LHS of the various speeds, manual, 2x speed etc toward you, then push the stalk up to the intermittent setting, they should only work on intermittent.
Think i had to faff around with mine for a time to try and replicate the auto set up the salesman demonstrated on the day of collection and fnally i got them to wok by copying the above.
Worth the try, you won't break anything, maybe just your patience. ATB
