my disco4 4 days old & OIL LEAK
Picked it up on Saturday, well pleased (see post on new D4 section) moved it last night to find small suspicious damp patch under engine bay. Closer inspection reveals light green/yellowish oil type liquid dripping of metal tray under engine/ steering rack area. Not pleased just 85 miles on clock.
Visit to workshop after work today reveals leak coming from somewhere mid engine area above starter motor, the whole bottom half of the engine is covered in a fine oily deposit. Now in dry dock awaiting further investigation tomoz
Told by Lrover technicians "we've never seen this before".
This is now sat on my drive as courtesy car, no consolation whatsoever, but it has only 30 miles on the clock so plenty of time for it to go wrong

thats what I think power steering fluid being the favourite. Would aircon fluid just evaporate, or am I barking up the wrong exhaust pipe

Two questions which may give the answer.
Have you lost any power steering fluid, is the levele low.
Is your air con still working and getting really chilly.
The D4's are known to have weak power steering hose O rings, I have had all mine replaced under warrantyMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Would I be right in assuming there are two 'air con fluids' A greenish oil in the compressor and a gaseous coolant in the pipe circuit Went for a job as a human cannonball. Not the right calibre.

The oil and gas are mixed so do they do the loop round the system together.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your posts and ideas. Turns out to be....... a leak on the turbo oil feed pipe. So a pale green/yellowish colour on a drip, but clear when touched and on your skin is fully synthetic engine oil. Must admit I'm not up to speed on the taste of fully synthetic, now Duckhams 20/50
I had the opportunity to see the car up on the ramp yesterday but there is so much plumbing and hardware no chance of working out where it was coming from until they had removed the starter motor etc. this morning.Plus leaked fluids find their way around in mysterious ways.
When I get a better brief tomorrow will add more info.
Good news is getting it back tomorrow Bad news is courtesy car has to go back
May go to Wakefield via Hawes and Buttertubs Pass and just see what this thing can do

so, to update on oil leak. The turbo oil feed pipe had a split, allowing small amount of engine oil to weep out. 200mls of oil replaced when new pipe fitted.
You kinda feel not happy when its your vehicle but have to accept these things do happen. Guy Salmon at Wakefield have been brill can't fault them.
As a the result customer service fairy has been busy and this piece of kit had appeared as if by magic when we collected the car today.
So its a big to Landrover and Dealership.
Handed back the R/R sport but I don't miss it, super car but its just confirmed our wants and needs, I'm a Disco Guy all the way. New post to follow on this subject.
