Disco loses power and coasts to a halt
So driving home from Pizza Hut and the Disco suddenly lost power and coasted to a halt. Wouldn't restart. Battery and electrics all seem ok, half a tank of fuel, serviced the previous week at main dealers. Got it towed to local LR specialist and they say rear belt driving fuel pump is not turning. Its done 95000 miles.
Anyone got any thoughts on what might be the problem (really hoping its not broken cambelt - but if that failed I would of thought I'd have stopped sooner)
Cheers
Paul.

When it was serviced at the dealer, did they do any extra work ie the high pressure pump modification ?

What they said? If the rear belt breaks, it doesnt cause any damage, but will cause a non-start issue, due to the pump not turning and not building up any high pressure...My D3 Build Thread

Thanks for the replies.
No, the main dealer didn't do any additional work, still cost £600 though! Of course £100 of that is VAT now.
The LR Specialist hasn't had time to look at it yet, so no answers from them yet either.

So it is the cambelt after all. Basically the tensioner sheared off and hence ...
Lets see if LR fancy doing a warranty repair.

I assume if done 95k and just serviced then the 105k belt service was done? Or is it a bit late for the 90k one? Covered by a warranty? Questions questions I know.

Very bad of me not to follow this up especially after the replies. Please accept my apologies.
So the result of the cambelt tensioner failing was that the engine was trashed. I was looking at paying out for a new engine, however decided to try and get LR to help towards it.
Basically after a long discussion with dealer and LR, LR paid out for a new engine under warranty! I think this was mainly due to the dealer (Guy Salmon, Stratford) and the fact I'd had it looked after by them from new.
However, I was supposed to be driving to the Alps to take the family skiing and Guy Salmon were not going to be able to fit the new engine in time. So they even sorted me out a hire care (FOC) so we didn't miss the holiday. (The wife's car is a Mini. Didn't fancy the trip to the Alps in that, with the kids!)
So hats off to Land Rover for coming through, but also a big thank you to Guy Salmon Stratford and Nick the service manager in particular.
