Suspension dropping but only with flat battery.

I recently bought a 2008 HSE and have just replaced the battery as it went flat after a few days. I’m assuming it was a dud battery after being sat for a few months etc. However once it was flat I noticed the front of the car had dropped right down. This doesn’t seem to happen with the new battery. I know it self levels by itself but my question is if something is leaking does it use the compressor to self level even with the engine not running? If so that would mean it will flatten itself quickly again right? Am I missing something?

Self levelling can happen for a couple of hours after you remove the key, but can only use the pressure stored in the tank. No, it won't run the compressor.

No, it only self levels a few seconds after the engine is switched off, you may hear it " fart". If it lowers any further front or rear you have a leak, nothing to do with the battery state of charge.

Brilliant - glad it can’t flatten itself. So it’s a bit of a mystery why it dropped at the front when I had my flat battery then when it doesn’t appear to be doing it now. Maybe a coincidence. I guess it might happen over a bit of a longer period than I thought in which case I will get the soapy water out!

D3s are power hungry, leave the doors open for 15 minutes and you will have a flat battery, play the radio for 15minutes with engine off will flatten the battery, just a heads up to what appears to be a new owner. Thumbs Up

Cheers yeah I did have the doors open with the interior light on for a while until I found the 5 second hold trick to keep it off!! Yep first time LR owner (2008 D3 HSE).

The amount of power the interior light uses is miniscule compared to what other systems consume when a door is left open, leave a door open for any period of time, this prevents the car from "going to sleep" and you will have a flat battery very soon.
