Don't have to do that with mine ?!
So to clarify, you get in your car, put your foot on the brake, stab your finer on the stop / start button and release immediately, and the car starts?
I have to hold mine in until I hear it starting. A simple push won't start the car.

My D4's the same as my 535d - push and hold for a split second and release and then the magic takes over and the car starts. Neither are instantaneous, but you certainly don't have to hold either until the engine is turning.

Looking at this thread it would appear the quick push works for some people and not others

Mine is just a push to start, haven't had to hold it in, usually get in foot on brake and stab the button and away. MY15 D4Steve

Is there a slight delay if the temperature is low? I ask this because my last model (MY12) and current model both start(ed) instantly in summer but if there's been a frost, there's a slight delay of maybe one second.

In the cold weather the delay will be because the glow plugs have to heat up firstCheers Ian
