Disco 4 and MOT Pass/Fail

Hi, I picked up my Disco 4 last week, it comes with a 6 month dealer warranty (non landrover) (2015 plate 67K miles)
So it had just been MOT'd, but with my experience with discos and my LR3, I thought I would take it over to a local Specialist for a checkover. !!

To my surprise the front bushes have gone, which was an advisory back in 2020, plus the Propshaft seal has split, the specialist tells me these constitute an MOT failure. !!!

I though the front bushes might be a definite failure, but I did know if the prop shaft would be and MOT failure. can anyone confirm that.?

The good news is the garage are picking the car up today to fix both the issues.

Also the stop start doesn't appear to work but reading up that's quite common and I am not bothered about that to be honest.

Cheers
Mark

Had my RRS MOT'd recently, centre bearing split was an advisory, very much to my surprise.

There is a "donut" type seal on the rear prop shaft, I was told that if this is split then it is a MOT failure.

The rear prop shaft has to be replaced as the "donut" is not sold separately Big Cry

From the inspection manual 6.1.7
(b) A transmission shaft bearing:

(i) excessively worn Major
(ii) likely to break up Dangerous

So a split in the seal or rubber support is not a fail, but if it is worn to the point of excessive play it is a fail. What is excessive of course is down to the discretion of the tester
