Folks,
Going to Dorset in August this summer and flying into Bristol.
Although there will be 3 of us for most of the time the last two days we will be joined by the in-laws.
4 adults and one baby seat with luggage. Suppose we could get an MPV.... But does anyway know any local hire places. Google shows one at over £800 a week. Seems a bit rich to me but maybe that's the going rate.

For a Hire Company that's probably a pretty good price.
We sometimes hire a MPV and that comes out to around £700 a week (6 days actually)
Hire for a RRS on the same period is £1200 looking at the last pricelist I got.

Cheaper, yes. Less stressful. No.
Got a 17 month old and at least the plane is just over an hour but driving would take a good 12-14 hours from the frozen north.

Suppose I could get someone to drive it down for us.......I know that happens a lot in North America when people move 'State' and dealers do use people to move cars around - are those the ones you see holding trade plates in lay-bys etc?
Edit - No dogging jokes - gents!

How far north are u in Scotland. We drive back from Glasgow to Hampshire in 6.5 hrs with two of us sharing the driving. when we had very young children I found it easier to drive my self than be hearded and abused by the airlines. With your own truck you have everything to hand. You could stop half way down as part of the holiday in a b&B.
